Lake Superior and the New Magincia Lottery

Great Lakes and Atlantic had upwards of three-four times as many New Magincia lottery tickets sold as Lake Superior, but being that I didn’t have time to track any shards but my home shard, I’m going to present you with some data about Lake Superior and the New Magincia lottery.

This was personally verified by me up until about 30-45 minutes before Lake Superior went down for the normal daily maintenance and then came back up again, with the lottery winners being notified. It’s possible that somebody came in at the very last minute and bought a large number of tickets, but I think it’s unlikely.

By my calculations, there was a total of 2,728,896,000 gold spent overall. That’s 2.7 billion in gold. Not bad.

Both Facets – Northern Plots (N1, N2, N3, C2, C3, E1, E2, E3, E4, E5, E6, E7)
* 6,761 Tickets Sold
* Average of 281 tickets per plot

Trammel – Northern Plots (N1, N2, N3, C2, C3, E1, E2, E3, E4, E5, E6, E7)
* 5,304 Tickets Sold
* Average of 442 tickets per plot
* C-3 was the most popular plot with 452 tickets sold
* N-2 was the least popular plot with 436 tickets sold

Felucca – Northern Plots (N1, N2, N3, C2, C3, E1, E2, E3, E4, E5, E6, E7)
* 1,457 Tickets Sold
* Average of 121 tickets per plot
* C-2 was the most popular plot with 132 tickets sold
* E-5 was the least popular plot with 93 tickets sold

Both Plots – Southern Plots (SW1, SW2, SW3, SW4, SW5, SE1, SE2, SE3, SE4, C1)
* 1,330,643 Tickets Sold
* Average of 66,532 tickets sold per plot

Trammel – Southern Plots (SW1, SW2, SW3, SW4, SW5, SE1, SE2, SE3, SE4, C1)
* 1,150,125 Tickets Sold
* Average of 115,012 tickets per plot
* SE-1 was the most popular plot with 227,051 tickets sold
* SE-2 was the least popular plot with 74,979 tickets sold

Felucca – Southern Plots (SW1, SW2, SW3, SW4, SW5, SE1, SE2, SE3, SE4, C1)
* 180,518 Tickets Sold
* Average of 18,051 tickets per plot
* SW-1 was the most popular plot with 58,265 tickets sold
* SW-4 was the least popular plot with 6,129 tickets sold
* SE-2 and SE-3 had 6,939 and 6,891 tickets sold respectively
* SE-1 had 12, 667 tickets sold

Some Notes
* I saw Felucca numbers jump 10% – 20% on some plots in the evening before the plots were awarded.
* I was surprised that SE-2 on Trammel didn’t have more tickets sold. It will probably be close to the moongate once they move it, and will be near the new bank, as well as being near the site of the original bank. That happens to be where most of my runes for Magincia were marked.

I think the most interesting thing to me was how popular SW-1 was in Felucca, and SW-2 was in a distant second place, compared to SE-1 on Trammel, with SE-4 being in a distant second. I can partially attribute that to the HEMP guild – they look to own a few of those SW lots, and may have done a guild buy targeting a specific area, the SW spots.

As for me, I had bought a total of 388 tickets on Lake Superior, and won two houses, both in the northern section of Felucca. I bought tickets on every single plot on both facets as that was what I could afford. I was just hoping to win one and participate in New Magincia somehow. So far it is shaping up to be unique and not like Luna, although that may change once the additional phases of New Magincia’s reconstruction commence, such as the new vendor bazaar. I’m seeing a couple of museums on the Trammel side, and quite a few private homes (or guild houses) on both.

If somebody would like more details, or per plot details, I’d be more than happy to provide them for Lake Superior. If YOU have data you’d like to share about other shards, feel free to contact us and I’ll post them.

What Happens When You Win the New Magincia Lottery?

So you’re playing Ultima Online, you enter the New Magincia lottery for a shot at a unique housing development.

What happens if you actually win a plot? Like say a few minutes ago when the server came up from maintenance.

This is what happens – you get a message that you then open and well, I’ll let the video speak for itself.

My only question is why don’t they expand the messaging system, would be really nice to have a universal in-game messaging system like this, allowing players to send messages to one another.

If you are curious what I’m going to do, I don’t know yet. I won this on my main account (don’t have many), but the character I won this on was my “reporter” character that is used to dying and so doesn’t carry anything on him normally and I need to scrounge up some gold and a house placement tool and see if I can actually fit a 15×15 there. I really didn’t expect to win, but I am thinking of doing something interesting with it. I figured that if I was going to win, it would be a Fel plot and one of the limited plots where you could only buy one ticket. Maybe I’ll make this the in-game offices of UOJournal.com, or I’ll wait and see how the neighborhood turns out. I would like to be a part of a themed area.

The deed says I have 22 days, so more than enough time.

Oh, and the odds for that plot, there were 131 tickets sold – I checked shortly before the shard went down for normal maintenance. I’ll be posting the rest of the totals later today, but I can say that, barring any heavy buyers in the last half hour before the shard went down, that Lake Superior totals for both Fel and Tram were, drum roll please, 2,728,896,000 in gold.

Old description of Magincia:
Magincia – Isle of Riches

Magincia is a fairly small island town known for the incredible wealth that it derives from the sea and from the practice of the magical arts. The city itself is beautiful to behold, with golden streets and majestic architecture. Honest tradesmen do not linger for long upon this isle, however, preferring to pass through the moongate upon its western edge in search of a more pleasing environment.

For those who seek to begin a career in Magincia, however, the city does offer guilds for fishermen and miners, and a modest collection of shops. Little in the way of danger ever finds its way here, but the moongate does offer abundant danger on its other side.

For the visitor, Magincia’s most impressive sites are its Parliament Building and the Temple to the Virtues – even if these are rarely practiced in the city.

Should an adventurer join the ranks of Magincia’s elite and purchase a ship, the docks to the south of the city offer access to the many other islands nearby.

Amenities: Baker, Bank, Counselors’ Guild, Healer, Inn, Jeweler, Magic Shop, Shipwright, Tailor, Tavern, Tinker

New Description, of New Magincia:
New Magincia – Razed and Reborn

New Magincia lies on the spot of what once was fairly small island town known for the incredible wealth that it derived from the sea and from the practice of the magical arts. The city itself was beautiful to behold, with golden streets and majestic architecture. Destroyed by daemons and later rebuilt, now New Magincia is famed for its lush gardens and the New Magincia Bazaar.

For those who seek to begin a career in Magincia, however, the city does offer guilds for fishermen and seafarers. Since its destruction and rebuilding, little in the way of danger ever finds its way here, but the moongate does offer abundant danger on its other side.

For the visitor, the town’s most impressive sites are its Public Gardens and the New Magincia Bazaar.

Should an adventurer join the ranks of Magincia’s elite and purchase a ship, the docks to the south of the city offer access to the many other islands nearby.

The Beginning of the End (EM/VirtueBane Events Coming Up!)

It’s going to be a busy weekend, with plenty of EM events taking place.

The Virtuebane story arc, In the Shadow of Virtue, is starting to wrap up, with some shards holding EM events tonight and others through this weekend.

For instance, Lake Superior’s EMs have posted this:
The time has come to put an end to all this chaos once and for all! The, hopefully, FINAL push against Virtuebane will occur in but two days! All able bodies are requested to aid in this dire time.

When and where?!?!
Friday, March 25!
7PM Central / 8PM Eastern!
Britain – Castle Trammel!

You probably should check your individual shard forums at Stratics or UO Forums

There is a very nice piece of fiction/back-story to the upcoming event(s) written by EM Drosselmeyer (EM from Chesapeake). The following is just an excerpt, for the full story, see the link at the bottom:

Virtuebane towered over those who had followed him devoutly, his Bane Chosen, as he stood in front of them where they had assembled. They looked to him anxiously and eagerly awaiting his latest commands, curious as to the reason they had all been summoned here. Virtuebane spoke to the gathered in a voice that commanded their full attention, and all other chatter was silenced in a moment.

“Our time is at hand, my chosen! The Britannian’s leader, Queen Dawn, has fallen! They are losing morale, and soon will lose everything! I have promised you all that your faith and your devotion would be rewarded. Are you ready to follow me in this final step towards our victory?”

A resounding chorus of cheers and assent rippled through the vast army of Bane Chosen, the dragon riders rearing their ferocious mounts back on two legs while the hound masters commanded their pets to let out a harmonious howl. The clamor of metal on metal rang through the air as warriors and recruits smacked their weapons along their shields. Virtuebane’s face adopted as wide a grin as his inhuman features would allow.

“You have all been chosen, and your loyalty will now be rewarded! You will serve me in a greater capacity than you could ever have imagined.”

With that, Virtuebane extended his hands and gestured towards his army. At first, it seemed that nothing was happening, but then a change began to take place. Rank after rank of the Bane Chosen found their bodies pulsating with power, their forms seeming to shimmer. Then in a moment of dazzling brilliance, what had been an army of dragon riders, recruits, and hound masters had transformed. Before Virtuebane now stood a vast swath of new troops, completely loyal to their master. Virtuebane gestured with a hand, and the horde of ancient hellhounds all rang out in one voice together. With this task complete, he stalked away to finish his preparations.
