Compassion Dyes, Vet Rewards, and Publish 72

It’s been nearly a week since I last posted, and a few things have happened. Nothing too major – the UO team is still working through Publish 72.

From the UO Herald, Vet rewards are back online (but nothing new just yet) on Origin.

* Publish 72 bugfixes on Test Center

* Mannequin can no longer be placed outside of a home.
* Increased the point value for the Item bless deed
* Changed the name of the item bless deed to bless deed to preserve the rare factor of the original one.
* The Cornucopia will now give points as it should.
* Removed the cooking bonus from the full Fisherman’s set.
* Fixed an exploit with placing Clean up Britannia items in the trash can.

Please note: If you put female gargoyle cloth armor onto a male gargoyle you cannot remove it via the paperdoll. You can remove it by changing the race/gender. This is a classic client bug that will be fixed in the future.

And last but not least, The “Compassion” dyes were pushed out last week:

As announced in a previous news the compassion dyes will be patched into the game this evening. If your character is more than 30 days old and not on a trial account, you will see the dyes in your pack after maintenance.

Some complained about the dyes being only one per shard per account, but it increased the amount of interaction among players as they traded for them, and that’s not all bad is it?

Origin Publish: Fishermen and Ladies, Pirates, and Boaters Rejoice

Technically, if you aren’t on Origin, don’t start rejoicing just yet. Origin has to test it out first, but once the devs are happy, the rest of the shards will get it. Given how specific the bug fixes are, my guess is that we’ll see it elsewhere within the week.

On to the details, at 2pm EST, Origin received a published to address the following issues:
* Runes for decayed or otherwise destroyed ships will now reset when they are attempted to be used.
* Players will now receive keys for legacy ships instead of runes
* Dry-docked ships should now leave the world correctly.
* The harbormaster now only gives a rune for the ship owned by the character instead of for all ships owned by that account.
* Ships should now hue correctly based on type

It should address the biggest problems people were having with their ships.

Ultima Online Publish 71.0 Pushed to Origin

Earlier this month, we got details on Publish 71. Today on UO Herald, it was posted that Publish 71 would be coming to the Origin shard today, which puts it that much closer to the other shards.

In between July 5th and now, the UO devs have worked on a few more bug fixes.

Details:

We’ll push Publish 71.0 to Origin today, Tuesday 19th at 11:00 am EDT. This requires a short downtime: we expect the shard to be back online within an hour no later than 12:00 pm EDT.

Please check the previously posted Publish 71.0 Notes. There are some additional changes:

Bug Fixes
* Fixed the problem with transferring an increased storage home to a player without increased storage to their accounts.
* The tentacles of the Harrower should not spawn in unreachable locations any longer/
* Removed the archery property on gargoyle jewelry/
* Made it easier to get the Fishing Book 6.
* Fishing hooks can not be applied to Siege Only fishing poles with less uses than the hook.

I like the amount of work going into bug fixes.

Publish 70 Patch Notes for Origin

The UO devs have been busy working on Publish 70 on the Test Center for the past week, and so some changes have been made as Publish 70 is pushed out to Origin.

I’m only going to list the changes over the Publish 70 notes (linked above):

Magincia Planting System (Changes = bold)

Players are able to plant seeds in grassy areas around Magincia by using a hoe. The players will have to maintain the upkeep of the seeds to keep them healthy. Only the owner of the seed can take care of the plant . The plant will be tagged with the owners name and the date he/she planted it. Players will be able to dig up the plants after they have matured and they will continue to keep the player’s name, the date planted and the date harvested. Players can use the blue crystals to magically advance the growth of a plant in Magincia. You will be able to find 2 Gardeners that will see the hoes needed to plant seeds in Magincia.

Bug Fixes

* The reward weight of the lobsters and crabs has been adjusted
* You can now have your parrots on your Brit Ship without losing it when you move
* You can now place one tile soul forges on your Brit Ship
* Moongate name was changed from Magincia to New Magincia.
* Cleansing Winds will not heal after removing Mortal Wound any longer.

Enhanced Client – 2D Paperdoll mode

* In the enhanced client you can switch to the classic paperdoll for viewing. The option is found under the legacy tab in the settings window.

This just popped up on UOHerald.com. Looks like there is some work being done on the network side of things for some of the North American shards plus Oceania.

Greetings,

On Monday, March 14th, beginning at 8:00 AM EST we will bring down the following shards for a short network maintenance:

Lake Austin
Baja
Napa Valley
Sonoma
Pacific
Origin
Oceania

The expected downtime is 1.5 hours.

Thanks for your understanding.

This maybe ahead of the upcoming publish revolving around Magincia.
