Site Update – February 27, 2011 Plus Some Answers

Status of the UOJournal.com
It’s actually pretty good….except for three months worth of stories that are offline, as you can see from the notice at the top of the site. We actually went “live” a lot faster than I expected, otherwise I wouldn’t be discussing missing stories. More on that in a minute. The reason being that we like to have either images/screenshots accompanying our articles, or small icons indicating what the story is about. When we moved over, the actual content of those stories came over just fine. The links with the images didn’t because the addresses were hard-coded. The result would be a lot of stories with broken images. I thought it didn’t look very good, so I took them offline yesterday, and will make them available either as I upload the icons to UOJournal.com, move the images over to our public Flickr account (see below), or if images don’t contribute much, I may just remove them. Things will seem odd for the next few days. I apologize, but I just did not like seeing stories and articles with broken image links. There were also stories that related to what became UOJournal.com, and I need to change the references in those as well to reflect the new domain name.

This is a very long read, as it answers some questions asked of me this morning, and much of it will probably bore most of you, so unless you are interested in the behind-the-scenes part of UOJournal, you may want to pass on it.

Final Resting Place of Queen Dawn

If you missed the funeral of Queen Dawn, but wish to visit her grave, at least on Lake Superior, it is located at: 73.23’N 52.18’W, which is behind the Empath Abbey in Yew.

This is an image of her grave on Lake Superior.

Ultima Online - Final Resting Place of Queen Dawn

In attendance when this image was being created:
* Little Magnolia
* Logan (G^C)
* Pandora (~~~)
* Tia Pan (V3)
* Sue (V3)

Sue (V3) had some very harsh words for Queen Dawn, words that will not be repeated publicly.

Full video of her memorial and funeral will be posted in the next few days.

Queen Dawn is Laid to Rest, Virtuebane Appears

Tonight, on the Lake Superior Shard, Queen Dawn was finally laid to rest. We gathered together at Castle Britannia, and were then taken to the Court of Truth in Yew.

We heard Queen Zhah speak of her friendship with Queen Dawn. Lancepesade Kimmel and 2nd Lieutenant James R. also spoke of Dawn and shared some of their memories and her virtues. The 2nd Lieutenant seemed a little closer to Dawn than most people who worked with her…

Ricardo and Avery were there at the Court.

Ricardo was…busted, you might say. Virtuebane murdered Ricardo right in front of us, and removed an item. We then spent several minutes trying to defeat Virtuebane, to no avail.

I will be bringing full video and a transcript of the memorial services for Queen Dawn later this weekend.

Oh, we had a special friend show up:

Reminder: The Funeral of Queen Dawn

Just a reminder – many shards will be laying Queen Dawn to rest this weekend, after she was murdered by her husband, Ors.

For information concerning your particular shard, please see our UO Links page.
