Well......... Unless you haven't paid less then 12 mills for mace and shields, or if you haven't bought a 60k commodity deed for anything in game, your (insert anyone who is reading this) full of it to think scripters are few and far between. Or that you don't need them. And the comment from the article above about the pvp community not scripting is a huge load of BS most do script to cast or to heal or switch weapons or run specials or any numerous other things. And most will even admit to it. Fact is that is what makes this game so much better, the chance to write your own helper script and use it to tear up navery solo or what ever. And siege has only hurt them selves by being so anti easy uo as to chase half there users off that shard for being scripters. Yeah the users of siege have more accounts per user, but the income generated is still less then most other shards. Just my $0.02

I think EA decided years ago it had to accommodate the cheaters to keep UO economically viable, and possibly confirmed that idea again with Cal's infamous project of tracking the cheaters in a spreadsheet.

I sometimes wonder if that is why we don't have an active community representative from EA. They'd be put in a horrible position almost on a weekly basis reading forum posts where some people make fairly blatant posts admitting to or alluding to their use of some form of scripting to accomplish certain things in UO and then having to decide how or if to even respond to such posts as an official representative of EA. No, it's apparently just easier for EA to continue looking the other way and a few times a year officially say some random stuff they think many of us want to hear about "cracking down on the cheaters" and just keep UO stumbling along as it is.

I agree with you 100% regarding what the effect on Siege and Mugen players would be if EA ever poured any amount of resources into making a shard to house the cheaters. Mugen seems to get significantly more attention than Siege does because it falls under the team in Japan (e.g., someone actually bothered to bury Queen Dawn on Mugen). Siege, on the other hand, seems to be the bastard, red-headed stepchild of UO. I hope you saw this thread on Stratics initiated by a post from Mesanna and saw the reaction it garnered from Siege players: http://community.stratics.com/index.php?threads/new-em-will-be-hired-for-siege.262822/ . I have no idea what possessed her to word her initial post the way she did, and I don't think anyone else who isn't currently an EM has any clue either.

As much as I want a solid EC with better graphics and a more intuitive interface, I think the other side of the equation for me is a UO that has gone back to it's roots. What I am saying is that I want to play Classic UO (Pre-AOS of some flavor) with a pumped up EC.

Literally, that's all I want. I've subbed on and off since '97, and at this point it's the only thing that'll bring me back to the game. UO has grown way too unwieldy and all these producers with their half implemented projects makes UO feel like an unwieldy mess of half baked systems.

Go back closer to the original Koster design and I'm onboard again.

I understand your thinking and I am sorry I actually agree with it. I played Ultima Online for about 6-7 years back in the day. Few reasons I left were, item insurance ruined crafters (other than alchy's), Artifact gear/weapons crap and cheaters/hackers of all types. It did not seem like anyone from EA did anything about them. Now for my wish lol.
After playing WOW since beta and leaving it for SWTOR, I would love for a new and improved UO to come out. I would not mind it being just Fel again, but that would cut your potential player base by 3/4 , go back to no item insurance, monitor and ban hackers/cheaters, improved graphics and forget throwing a lot of quests in the game. I am so sick of questing.
The beauty of UO was the mechanics behind the skills and housing of course). You gained by using, no levels involved. Back in the day, the economy was booming with all sorts of stuff, by the time I quit it was mostly DOOM arti's and "power" weapon and jewelry.
Personally, I think there are quite of few people out there that are getting tired of having to find 3-4 other people to do instances, or even more to raid. They would like to be able to go do things solo and feel like they accomplished something. UO did that in my opinion. Sure, there were things you could not do solo, but no one should expect to do it all alone. Sorry to make this a little long, but I would kill to have a improved graphics, and revamped UO come out. Be the only thing I would play again.

This is all well and good intentions. But, if players with existing accounts cannot view, modify, or update their accounts then it is all for naught. The customer support for UO is, quite frankly, embarrassing to me as a customer.
